Daniel Bos

Dr Daniel Bos is a Senior Lecturer in Human Geography and Programme Leader of the Combined Honours Geography Programme at the University of Chester. His research focuses on geopolitics, landscape studies, and visual technologies. He teaches modules on social research methods, geopolitics, and fieldwork, integrating innovative pedagogical approaches like virtual reality (VR) and game-based learning. Bos leads the Experimenting with Digital and Immersive Technologies (EDIT) group, promoting interdisciplinary digital innovation in education.

His research explores the intersections of popular culture, geopolitics, and technology. Notable areas include:

• Landscape Studies: Historical and contemporary human-environment interactions in Welsh landscapes, using qualitative methods.
• Popular Geopolitics: Analysis of video games and media shaping geopolitical perceptions, nationalism, and militarism.
• Visual Technologies: Pedagogical applications of VR in geography education, emphasizing fieldwork simulation and analytical skills.

Bos supervises postgraduate research on flood-risk communication (Fulons Solbakken) and brownfield site analysis in Nigeria (Olalekan Aduloju). His work bridges academia and practice through knowledge exchange initiatives, such as the EDIT group’s university-wide digital innovation projects.

His recent publications (2021–2024) highlight trends in VR-driven pedagogy, geopolitical analysis via gaming, and landscape research. He actively engages with public-facing research through exhibitions and interdisciplinary collaboration.
