Daniel Black is a Professor of Physical Science and Engineering Science at Wartburg College, joining the faculty in 1993. He currently serves as Chair of the Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Engineering Science.
- Education: B.S., M.S., Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University
Black's research focuses on aerospace engineering, computational physics, and turbulence theory. His work includes wind-tunnel technology, flight-test engineering, and mathematical modeling of separated flows. He has published in journals such as Mathematika, the Journal of Computational Physics, and the Proceedings of the Royal Society.
He is recognized through the Gary and Donna Hoover Distinguished Professorship in Engineering Science (established 2013). His academic contributions include designing the engineering science major and developing new courses like the History of Science.
