Daniel Bailey is a Senior Lecturer in International Political Economy at Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School, within the Finance and Economics department. His research focuses on global economic systems, ecological degradation, and political institutions, with a particular emphasis on their interplay across national and international scales.
Teaching includes roles as Module Leader for Global Political Economy (BA) and Development Finance (MSc), and Module Co-Leader for Fiscal and Economic Governance (MSc). He has also led courses at the University of Manchester and University of York, including Public Management and Delivery (MA) and Political Economy Methods Summer School.
Research interests include sustainability transitions, financial systems, and degrowth economics. He has published in journals like New Political Economy, Environmental Politics, and Cambridge Journal of Regions, Economy and Society, collaborating with Prof. Colin Hay on 'Diverging Capitalisms: Britain, the City of London, and Europe'.

Supervision includes Liam O’Reilly’s PhD research at MMU since 2022.
