Daniel A. Nathan is a Professor in the Department of American Studies at Skidmore College, holding the Douglas Family Chair in American Culture, History, and Literary and Interdisciplinary Studies. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Iowa and previously served as Fulbright Professor at the University of Tampere in Finland.
His interdisciplinary research focuses on cultural representation, popular culture, and American sport history. Notable works include publications on the Black Sox Scandal, Hollywood's portrayal of history, and international perspectives on baseball. His scholarship examines the politics of historical interpretation and cultural memory.
Nathan has extensive academic leadership experience, having served as President of the North American Society for Sport History (2013-2015) and chaired multiple committees at Skidmore including the Department of American Studies and Appointments and Tenure Committee.
