Dang Nguyen

Dr. Dang Nguyen is a Research Fellow at RMIT University's School of Media and Communication, affiliated with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society. She holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Science from the University of Oxford as a Chevening Scholar, with additional fellowships at Yale University. Her research explores the social implications of media technologies, focusing on automation's socio-historical dimensions, digital knowledge systems, and technological cultures. Key areas include automated informality and platform governance. Dang has authored influential books like Internet Cures and Digital Research Methods and the Diaspora, and her work appears in top journals such as New Media & Society and Media, Culture & Society. She is a media expert on the International Panel for the Information Environment (IPIE) and has taught across Australia, Singapore, and Vietnam. Recognized for teaching excellence, she received the RMIT Dean's Commendation (2019) and Associate Dean's Commendation (2018). Dang supervises PhD/Masters students in digital economies, automated media, and AI governance.
