Danesha Seth Carley

Danesha Seth Carley is an Associate Professor in Horticultural Science and Director of the NSF Center for Integrated Pest Management (CIPM) at North Carolina State University. She also leads the Center of Excellence for Regulatory Science in Agriculture and serves as the NC IPM Coordinator. Her research focuses on sustainable managed landscapes, pollinator habitat conservation, and the ecological impact of urban green spaces. She oversees the EIP grant program for North Carolina and has contributed to projects like the restoration of historic Pinehurst Golf Courses.

Education: PhD in Crop Science and Plant Pathology (NC State University, 2006), MS in Entomology and Plant Pathology (University of Tennessee, 2001), BS in Biology (Earlam College, 1998). She holds appointments as Extension Faculty and Research Discipline in Sustainable Agriculture/Organic Production, with affiliations to the Graduate Faculty in Community Food Systems and Agroecology, and Landscapes, Gardens, and Urban Horticulture.

Research interests emphasize integrating ecological principles into agricultural practices. Key areas include pollinator-friendly landscaping, IPM infrastructure, and mitigating climate impacts on crops. Her work bridges academia, policy, and community outreach, such as developing pollinator conservation programs and advocating for regulatory science in pesticide risk management.

Her publications span topics like pest management under climate change, bee biodiversity in urban settings, and ecological risk assessments. She actively engages in grant management and interdisciplinary collaborations to advance sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.
