Dane Carlson is a Lecturer in the Department of Landscape Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL). His research focuses on climate crisis and disaster-making in Nepal, particularly examining the transformative roles of local communities in adapting to environmental changes. He collaborates with scholars like Yungdrung Tsewang Gurung and Sonam Lama, supported by grants from the Graham Foundation and Landscape Research Group.
Carlson’s work bridges design practice and critical research, addressing issues such as displacement, resource management, and speculative futures in Himalayan regions. He has presented at conferences including ICARUS and the Association for Nepal and Himalayan Studies.
