Dandan Yu

Dandan Yu is a Research Fellow at Macquarie University's Centre for the Health Economy (MUCHE), joining in July 2023. Previously, she served as a Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR) from February 2019 to July 2023. She holds a PhD in Economics from UNSW Sydney (2019), a Master's in Economics from Peking University (2015), and a Bachelor's in Economics from Peking University (2013).

Her research focuses on healthy ageing, healthcare systems analysis, and policy evaluation. She employs econometric modeling to explore topics like intergenerational relationships, public health outcomes, and the implications of ageing populations. Recent work includes studies on alcohol consumption's impact on mortality in China and the role of education in elderly parents' internet adoption.

Awarded the UNSW Inaugural Dean's Award for Outstanding Ph.D. Theses in 2019, she has contributed to policy-relevant research such as the Australian Healthcare System and Regulatory Frameworks report. Active in academic engagement, she participates in conferences like the Colloquium on Pensions and Retirement Research. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges economics, public health, and policy design to address societal challenges linked to ageing populations.
