Danai Riga

Danai Riga is a Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Science, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with dual affiliations in Amsterdam Neuroscience research groups: Compulsivity, Impulsivity & Attention, and Mood, Anxiety, Psychosis, Stress & Sleep. Her work bridges molecular neuroscience and psychiatry, focusing on neural mechanisms underlying depression and cognitive disorders.

Research Interests:

• Molecular pathways in stress-induced depression
• Extracellular matrix dynamics in neural plasticity
• Prefrontal cortex dysfunction in psychiatric disorders
• Behavioral neuroscience using rodent models

Recent publications (15 total outputs) demonstrate strong emphasis on: optogenetic/electrophysiological techniques, habenula development, extracellular matrix roles in depression, and Fragile X syndrome mechanisms. Work frequently employs mouse models and molecular analysis.
