Dana Ziegler, PhD, is a Professor of Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, and Neuroscience at the University of Pikeville. He teaches courses including Gross Anatomy, Neuroscience, Anatomy, Histology & Radiographic Techniques, and Neuro-Ophthalmic Disorders.
Education: Earned a BA in Biology from Wesleyan University and a PhD in Anatomy and Neurobiology from the University of Kentucky.
Research focuses on neural systems regulating stress responses via the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical (HPA) axis, and the role of stress neurocircuitry and glucocorticoid signaling in Depression and PTSD. Techniques employed include localized lesions, intracranial infusions, tract-tracing, immunohistochemistry, and in situ hybridization.
