Dan Russek is a Professor at the Department of Hispanic Studies within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Victoria. He holds degrees from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and the University of Chicago, and his work bridges literary studies with visual arts, philosophy, and urban aesthetics.

Publications: His scholarly work includes Textual Exposures: Photography in Twentieth Century Spanish American Narrative Fiction (2015) and Ejercicios de mística urbana (Poesía práctica) (2020), a research-creation project combining photography and poetic prose. His poetic works include Tornasol (1993), Dones del día. Noventa y seis sonetos de ocasión (2024), and Nuevos dones del día (2025).
Current Projects: Developing the essay Cómo escribí algunos de mis sonetos, examining the intersection of creative practice and critical reflection. Coordinates the Annual Latin American and Spanish Film Week and serves as President of the Hispanic Film Society of Victoria since 2013.
