Dan Mitchell serves as an Instructor in the Department of Technology and Applied Science at Wayne State College. He teaches courses in industrial technology, including solid modeling, drafting, electronics, applied engineering, industrial prototypes, and manufacturing design. Prior to this role, he spent 34 years teaching at Yankton High School, where he instructed drafting, architecture, cabinetry, Cisco networking, and computer programming, alongside coaching football and wrestling.

His research interests focus on computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and project design for CNC equipment, 3D printers, and laser technology. Mitchell is actively involved with organizations such as the South Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education (SDACTE) and the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA). In his personal time, he enjoys woodworking and traveling.
