Dale Durrer serves as a Professorial Lecturer in Law at The George Washington University Law School, teaching in the Legal Rhetoric program since 2006. Concurrently, he holds judicial office as a Circuit Court Judge for Virginia's 16th Judicial Circuit, presiding over criminal and civil cases. His legal career includes prior service as an Assistant and Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney in Culpeper County and as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia.
Mr. Durrer earned his BA in Government from the University of Virginia (1994) and JD from American University Washington College of Law (2000). He maintains active membership in the Virginia and District of Columbia bars.
His scholarly work centers on legal education and evidence law, exemplified by co-authoring the Evidence casebook: Evidence Common Law and Federal Rules of Evidence, 7th Edition (LEXIS 2015). His teaching and research interests emphasize Legal Writing, Evidence, Criminal Law, and Civil Procedure, reflecting extensive courtroom experience including criminal defense practice, domestic relations cases, and a 2004 capital punishment debate at Yale Law School.
