Cyrus Saatsaz is a Lecturer in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at San José State University, part of the College of Humanities and the Arts. He also serves as the lead journalism professor at Cuesta College and an adjunct professor at Moorpark College, where he advises the student publication The Cuestonian.
His research and teaching interests include journalism, mass communication, sports journalism, digital and multimedia storytelling, media ethics, podcasting, and cultural narratives in sports. His work often explores the intersection of sports, media, and social movements, with a unique focus on surf journalism and coastal California culture.
Saatsaz is an award-winning multimedia journalist with extensive professional experience at major outlets such as USA Today, The Huffington Post, Sports Illustrated, Yahoo Sports, San Francisco Chronicle, and KNBR radio. He is the author of Dogwild & Board: Stories, Interviews and Musings from a Surf Journalist and hosts popular media productions including the 'Rick Barry's House' podcast and 'Locked On Warriors'.

Saatsaz has advised student media and taught journalism at institutions including Laramie County Community College, the University of Houston, and San Diego State University. He is actively involved in mentoring students and exploring trends in media consumption and digital storytelling. He founded and hosts media channels on Bleav Network and Locked On Podcast Network, and previously worked as a social media manager for inewsource and as owner of the San Francisco Surf Company.
