About
Cyril GAGNAISON is an Associate Professor in Geosciences at UniLaSalle since 2007, affiliated with the B2R (Geology/Geosciences) research unit (U2R 7511). He holds a PhD from Sorbonne University (2006), a DEA in Paleontology from the University of Montpellier II (2003), and a Geological Engineering diploma from the Albert-de-Lapparent Institute (2002). His teaching includes courses on paleontology, sedimentology, and geology field modules.
- Research focuses on Paris Basin geology, Miocene vertebrate fossils, and geoarchaeology.
- Collaborates with institutions like the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), BRGM, and regional geological heritage commissions.
- Leads field missions in France and internationally (e.g., Emirates, Oman, Morocco).
His research interests span paleontology, stratigraphy, and geological heritage preservation. Key projects include studies on decapod crustaceans in the Miocene 'Faluns' of Anjou-Touraine and Paleocene marine incursions in Amazonia. His work integrates field geology, biostratigraphy, and geochemical analyses to address paleoenvironmental and biogeographic questions.
Publications emphasize decapod systematics, vertebrate paleontology, and sedimentological interpretations. He has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed articles since 2000, focusing on Miocene and Paleocene strata.
