Cynthia Soohoo

Cynthia Soohoo is a Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Human Rights and Gender Justice Clinic at City University of New York School of Law. She specializes in reproductive justice, women’s human rights, and U.S. human rights advocacy through litigation, policy reform, and international mechanisms.

Her research focuses on reproductive rights, including forced sterilization, fetal personhood debates, and constitutional challenges to abortion laws. She has led impactful litigation in domestic and international courts, such as the landmark Doe v. Karadzic case.

Her recent publications analyze post-Dobbs implications for reproductive autonomy, fetal personhood, and comparative constitutional approaches in Colombia and Mexico. She co-edited 'Bringing Human Rights Home,' which won the 2008 Gustavus Myers Outstanding Book Award.
