Cynthia Miller-Idriss is Professor in American University's School of Public Affairs and School of Education, and founding director of the Polarization and Extremism Research & Innovation Lab (PERIL). Her work examines far-right extremism, youth radicalization, and the relationship between misogyny and political violence.
Research focuses on extremist recruitment, online radicalization, and strategies for preventing violent extremism. Recent publications explore how gendered narratives fuel extremist movements and the normalization of extremist sentiment.
