Cynthia Dupureur is a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Interim Department Chair at the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL), housed within the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a B.S. from Missouri State University (1983–1987) and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from The Ohio State University (1987–1992). Before joining UMSL in 2001, she was an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University (1995–2001) and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the California Institute of Technology (1992–1995). Her research focuses on DNA Metabolism, Biophysical Analysis of Proteins, Enzymology, and Supramolecular Chemistry, with applications in spectroscopy and materials science. She is affiliated with UMSL’s Center for Nanoscience and collaborates on interdisciplinary projects.
Her recent publications (2024–2025) highlight work on supramolecular frameworks, chemokine interactions, and luminescent materials design. She maintains an active lab with research opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, emphasizing hands-on training in modern analytical techniques. Notably, she contributed to the 2025 38th Annual Distinguished Alumni Lecture as part of the department’s events committee.
