Curt Rom is a University Professor of Horticulture at the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences and serves as the associate dean for international education in the Graduate School and International Education. He previously led the Honors College as interim dean (2014–2015) and directed the Bumpers College honors program (2011–2015). His administrative contributions include expanding honors courses, establishing an honors student board, launching the 'Food for Thought' lecture series, and creating undergraduate research grants and thesis competitions.
Rom’s research emphasizes sustainable and organic fruit crop production and local market farming systems. He has mentored honors students in projects like campus community gardens and organic orchard management, while teaching courses on horticulture, scientific reasoning, and international agriculture. Internationally, he led study tours to Scotland, Italy, China, and other locations. A member of the U of A Teaching Academy, he has received multiple teaching awards and focuses on integrating experiential learning into agricultural education.
