Craig Townsend is the Alsoph H. Corwin Professor of Chemistry at Johns Hopkins University with joint appointments in Biology and Biophysics. His research spans organic chemistry, biology, and medicine with focus on natural products and antibiotic biosynthesis.
Research Areas: Townsend investigates stereochemical and mechanistic studies of biosynthetic enzymes, chemoenzymatic synthesis, enzymology of polyketides and beta-lactam antibiotics, and drug design against antibiotic-resistant bacteria and malaria.
