Craig Saper

Craig Saper is a Professor in the Language, Literacy, and Culture Doctoral Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), affiliated with the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. As of 2023, he is on sabbatical through June 2025. His research spans experimental writing, media studies, publishing, visual poetry, and digital humanities, with a focus on avant-garde literature and sociopoetic frameworks. Saper is renowned for his work on Bob Brown, including critical editions of Brown’s works and a simulation of Brown’s Readies Machine. He has authored books such as *The Amazing Adventures of Bob Brown* (2016) and edited volumes on media theory and Fluxus art.

His curatorial projects include exhibitions on Noigandres (Brazilian concrete poetry) and TypeBound (2008), and he co-founded the Electric Press, an innovative scholarly publishing enterprise. Saper has held roles such as Director of the LLC Program and Bearman Family Chair, and he secured significant grants, including a ~$1 million NSF equipment grant. His work explores intersections of technology, culture, and scholarship, with contributions to journals like *Rhizomes* as Reviews Editor.
