Craig Primmer

Craig Primmer is a Professor at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and the Organismal and Evolutionary Biology Research Programme. His research group uses Atlantic salmon as a model organism to investigate integrative functional genomics, ecological, and evolutionary mechanisms underlying reproductive age diversity and its fitness consequences.

• Research Focus: Genetic basis of life-history variation, stress tolerance, and ecological-genomic interactions in salmonids
• Key Techniques: Laboratory-controlled molecular analyses and field studies of wild salmon in northern Finland

Recent publications highlight his work on Hippo pathway signaling, vgll3 gene effects, and climate change impacts on salmonid conservation. His research has been funded by the European Research Council (ERC), Research Council of Finland, and Academy of Finland.
