Dr. Craig Porter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and serves as an Investigator at the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute (ACRI) and Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center (ACNC). He leads the Physical Activity, Energetics and Metabolism Research Laboratory and is affiliated with the NIH-funded Center for Childhood Obesity Prevention.
- Education: BSc in Physiology, Sports Science, and Nutrition from the University of Glasgow; PhD in Skeletal Muscle Physiology from the University of Nottingham.
His research focuses on understanding how physical activity, nutrition, and disease affect mitochondrial function using calorimetry, stable isotopes, and high-resolution respirometry. He previously held academic and research positions at the University of Texas Medical Branch and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
