About
Dr. Craig Brunetti is the Dean of Graduate Studies and a Professor in the Department of Biology at Trent University. He holds a B.Sc. and Ph.D. from McMaster University, with his office and research laboratory located in the Life Health Sciences Building (LHS D214 and LHS D209). His research specializes in molecular virology and viral pathogenesis, focusing on immune evasion mechanisms in large DNA viruses like Herpesviridae, Poxviridae, and Iridoviridae.
Brunetti investigates how viruses circumvent host immune responses, using Iridoviridae as a model to discover novel antiviral pathways. His work bridges virology, immunology, and infectious disease dynamics, emphasizing host-virus interactions and therapeutic implications.
He teaches undergraduate courses including:
- BIOL 1030H: Foundations of Cellular and Molecular Biology
- BIOL 2070H: Cell Biology
His recent publications (2014-2019) demonstrate interdisciplinary work spanning virology, toxicology, genetics, and cell biology, with recurring themes in viral evolution, amphibian disease models, and cellular trafficking disorders.
