Courtney Babin

Courtney Babin serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Biological Sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University New Orleans, where she teaches organismal biology, population genetics, ecology, and evolution.

Research Interests:

Dr. Babin’s scholarship centers on the ecology and evolution of plants, particularly focusing on plant cytotype distributions, population genetics, and chromosome evolution in wild onions. She also investigates invasive plant ecology and explores genomic responses to environmental stressors in ray-finned fishes.

Recent Publications Overview:

Her recent work (2019-2023) spans climate-driven shifts in plant cytotypes, genomic insights into hypoxia adaptation in fishes, and systematic studies of North American Allium species, reflecting a dual focus on plant evolutionary biology and comparative genomics.
