Costanza Franceschini is a Research Fellow at Leiden University's Leiden Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology (within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences). She holds a PhD from the University of Milano-Bicocca (thesis: 'Assembling Development: An Ethnography of a Chinese Infrastructure Project in Ghana'). Her work focuses on Chinese development projects in Africa, infrastructure geopolitics, labor dynamics, and future-making processes in port city regions.
Current projects include Sea-ing Africa (examining port city infrastructure legacies) and PortCityFutures. She is affiliated with the Centre for Asian Studies at the University of Ghana and co-founded the Italian Association for Africa-China Studies (AISAC).
