Cortny Stark

Dr. Cortny Stark is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Services at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). She holds multiple roles including:

• Coordinator for substance use/recovery counseling programs
• Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Fellow
• Project Director for SAMHSA's substance use disorder education initiative
• Workshop facilitator at the Motivational Interviewing Training Center
• Practicing clinician at the Trauma Treatment Center in New Mexico

Her research examines LGBTQQIA+ counseling issues, transgender advocacy, and trauma processing models integrated with substance use treatment. She develops frameworks like the 10 Principles of Trauma-Informed Ethical Practice to enhance clinical decision-making.

Dr. Stark received the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Fellowship for her contributions to ethical counseling practices. She actively advises academic programs while maintaining clinical work in EMDR therapy and substance use counseling.
