Corina Peter

Corina Peter is a researcher at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), specializing in marine ecology and ecological restoration within the Shelf Sea System Ecology department. Her work focuses on restoring marine ecosystems, particularly European flat oyster (Ostrea edulis) reefs in the North Sea, and investigating blue carbon potential in coastal habitats. She co-leads the RESTORE project and contributes to initiatives like LITTERBASE, an online portal tracking marine litter impacts.

Research Interests: Marine biodiversity, aquaculture sustainability, biogenic reef restoration, microplastic pollution, and climate mitigation through blue carbon ecosystems.
