Constance Walker

Constance Walker is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of English at Carleton College, where she has taught since 1982. She holds an MA and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. Her teaching portfolio spans courses in British literature, poetry, and specialized topics including Jane Austen's works and Gothic literature.

Research Focus: Professor Walker's scholarship centers on 19th-century British literary movements, with emphasis on Romantic-era writers and Gothic fiction. Her courses like Cruel Summer, 1816 and Frankenstein's Progeny reflect expertise in Mary Shelley's circle and literary responses to scientific advancement.
