About
Professor Consolata Siniscalco is a faculty member in the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology at the University of Turin specializing in environmental and applied botany (BIO/03). She maintains an active research and teaching profile with extensive contributions to plant ecology and vegetation studies.
Her primary research focuses on the flora and vegetation of northern Italy, with particular expertise in:
- Effects of anthropization on floristic composition, biodiversity, and plant phenology
- Climate change impacts on flowering periods, pollen emission, and leaf emergence
- Spread and causes of exotic plant species across Italian landscapes
- Environmental restoration of disturbed areas from low to high altitude (including ski slopes, quarries, and embankments)
- Bioremediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated areas through collaboration with mycologists
- Management of protected areas as a council member of Gran Paradiso National Park
She has contributed significantly to regional botanical knowledge as the Piedmont regional responsible for the Check list of plant species and the Atlas of rare species in the transboundary Italy-France area through European Interreg projects. Her current research includes the PRIN 2022 project PREVALIEN (COD. 2022JBP5F8) focused on enhancing ecological knowledge.
Professor Siniscalco serves on multiple academic bodies including the Department Board, Teaching Commission, Library Commission, Programming Commission, and Space Commission for the Viale Mattioli campus. She teaches numerous graduate courses across multiple programs including Vegetation Analysis of Terrestrial Ecosystems, Archaeobotany, Plant Community Biology, Environmental Conservation, Climate Change Ecology, and Plant Ecology with Laboratory.
