Conny Rijken

Conny Rijken is a Full Professor at Tilburg Law School, Department of Criminal Law at Tilburg University. Her research focuses on human trafficking, globalization, migration law, and human rights. She holds a PhD in human rights law and has authored/co-authored over 100 publications. Rijken serves as the National Rapporteur on Human Trafficking and Sexual Violence against Children, a member of GRETA (Council of Europe), and advises institutions like the National Monument Kamp Amersfoort. Her work bridges legal scholarship with policy, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to address vulnerabilities in migration and criminal justice systems. Recent publications analyze legal loopholes for minor victims of sexual violence, child labor among Syrian refugees, and trafficking vs. smuggling dynamics in EU migration law. She leads research projects on globalization's impact on crime and justice, advocating for balanced policies during crises like the pandemic.
