Colm Murray is affiliated with the Heritage Council of Ireland and holds academic roles as a Lecturer at the School of Architecture and Planning, University College Dublin. He also lectures at Dublin Institute of Technology and Waterford Institute of Technology. His professional background includes work as an architect for the Office of Public Works (OPW) and the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage, alongside private practice in Dublin and Portugal.
He holds qualifications in architecture, planning, and building conservation. His policy work focuses on traditional building skills training, values-based conservation decision-making, and heritage-led urban regeneration. A key interest is leveraging built heritage for sustainable development. He serves on the Historic Buildings Council of Northern Ireland.
Colm participates in the ACHS 2016 conference, delivering sessions on cultural values in the built environment and contributing to heritage studies seminars. His work bridges academic teaching, policy development, and practical conservation projects.
