Dr. Collin Hobbs is an Associate Professor of Biology and Department Chair at Huntington University, where he has taught since 2013. His courses span botany, ecology, microbiology, cell biology, and environmental science. He holds a PhD in Ecological and Evolutionary Biology from Indiana University (2013) and a B.S. in Biology with a Music Performance minor from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire.
Research Focus: Dr. Hobbs specializes in plant population genetics, particularly studying rare conifer populations like eastern hemlock and white pine. His interdisciplinary work integrates molecular genetics, GIS technology, botanical surveying, and ecology. He also advances pedagogy through Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research.
