Colleen Tripp is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). She is affiliated with the College of Humanities and contributes to the 4Humanities@CSUN Research Lab. Her research and teaching focus on 19th-century and contemporary American literature, digital humanities, and transnational studies.
Tripp holds a Ph.D. (2015) and an M.A. (2011) from Brown University, an M.A. (2009) from the University of California Santa Cruz, and a B.A. (2005) from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Her research interests include transnationalism, race and ethnicity, global trade, and digital humanities. She explores topics such as:
- Postfeminist Gothic in modern literature
- Ethnography and representation in 19th-century texts
- Ecological and postcolonial critiques in contemporary narratives
- Cultural identity in popular media and television
Her recent publications analyze intersections of race, gender, and digital humanities. Recent works include critiques of Lovecraft Country’s postfeminist themes, transnational narratives in Sui Sin Far’s writings, and environmental critiques in Mexican Gothic. She also examines cultural identity in Ted Lasso and revisits Melville’s Benito Cereno through a global lens.

Tripp actively participates in digital humanities initiatives, including the Mellon-funded WhatEvery1Says project analyzing public discourse on the humanities. She also organizes Wikipedia Edit-A-Thons at CSUN and previously contributed to open-source projects like The American Yawp textbook.
She is part of the 4Humanities@CSUN Research Lab, which focuses on digital humanities and public engagement with the humanities.
