Colleen McEdwards is an Assistant Professor in the Broadcast and Digital Journalism program at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She teaches courses on broadcast and digital storytelling, leveraging her extensive journalism career. Prior to academia, she served as a CNN International anchor for 16 years, covering global events such as the 1997 Asian financial crisis, Putin's early presidency, and the Pan Am Flight 103 trial. She also reported for CBC News and completed Fulbright Specialist projects in digital media in Trinidad and Tobago.
- Education: PhD in Education & Technology Management (Northcentral University), MA in Instructional Design (Western Governors University), BA in English Literature (University of Waterloo).
Her research interests intersect media technology, international journalism practices, and crisis reporting. As a published author of academic papers and creative works, she emphasizes bridging traditional and digital media narratives.
Professional experience includes visiting lecturer roles at the University of North Alabama and University of Florida, alongside her decade-long CNN tenure. She is actively involved in shaping media education through interdisciplinary approaches.
