About
Colin Steele is a Reader in Applied Mathematics at the University of Manchester, where he has worked since 1993. He holds a PhD from the University of St Andrews on solar coronal magnetic structures.
His research centers on ergodic theory applications to combinatorial problems, particularly the intersection of dynamical systems with discrete mathematics. Current investigations explore recurrence properties in amenable groups and probability spaces.
Awards:
- Teaching Excellence Award (team winner, 2021)
He serves as External Examiner for the University of Edinburgh and previously for the University of Nottingham, contributing to mathematics education quality assurance nationally.
