Colin Olson

Colin Olson is a Senior Lecturer III in the Department of Sociology at the University of New Mexico. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of New Mexico (2009). His research focuses on Crime, Law, and Social Control, Social Networks, Deviance, Mass Media, Political Culture, and Social Theory. He teaches courses such as Causes of Crime and Delinquency, Crime, Public Policy & the Criminal Justice System, and Social Theory.

Dr. Olson’s academic contributions include advancing sociological understandings of deviance, social control mechanisms, and the intersection of media with political culture. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analyses of contemporary social issues.
