About
Dr. Colin McDonald is an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at McMaster University's Faculty of Engineering and Co-Director of the Integrated Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences program. He holds a B.E.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Western University and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.). His teaching spans first-year engineering design and biomedical innovation courses.
His research integrates pedagogical innovation with biomechanical analysis. Key interests include developing experiential learning frameworks for engineering education and advancing biomechanical understanding of joint kinematics through imaging and computational modeling. His technical work focuses on spinal/elbow biomechanics and surgical navigation systems.
Publication analysis reveals consistent focus on orthopedic biomechanics, particularly cervical spine dynamics and surgical implant performance. Recent studies examine motion preservation technologies and their clinical applications.
