Colin Behrens

Colin Behrens is a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Classics at Cornell University's College of Arts and Sciences, specializing in late antique Christian ecclesiastical politics. His research examines religious controversies in 5th-century Iberia, North Africa, and Palestine using political science frameworks and cognitive approaches.

Behrens' doctoral work focused on Orosius of Braga, reinterpreted as an ecclesiastical entrepreneur. His publications analyze imperial interventions in religious conflicts during Honorius' reign and cognitive dimensions of religious rhetoric. Current projects apply cognitive science to analyze Donatist preaching dynamics.
