Cole Stevens is an Associate Professor of Pharmacognosy and Research Associate Professor in the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Mississippi, School of Pharmacy. His research focuses on myxobacteria, microbial biosynthesis of natural products, and specialized metabolite gene cluster engineering. Dr. Stevens earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Northwestern State University (2006) and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Ottawa (2011).
His research interests include developing synthetic biology tools for drug discovery, discovering new bacterial species, and characterizing biosynthetic pathways. He leads the Stevens Lab, which explores areas such as natural product biosynthesis, bioinformatics, and applied microbiology.
