Col McCormack

Col McCormack is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at the Department of Art and Design, part of the College of Business, Technology and Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University. He holds dual roles as an artist, curator, and researcher, focusing on the intersection of modernism’s legacy and contemporary media. His practice spans film, installation, collage, photography, and text, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to explore cultural memory and resistance spaces.

Research Interests: McCormack’s work interrogates archives, social spheres, architecture, film history, and urban planning through a lens of material and cultural interrogation. His curatorial projects aim to create dialogues between artists and institutions, exemplified by collaborations with groups like RP in Berlin. Notable exhibitions include As Much About Forgetting (2018) and The Immense Ventriloquism series (2015–2017).

Recent Trends in Articles: His publications and exhibitions (2020–2024) reflect a sustained focus on materiality, temporal dynamics, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Projects like Base Notes & Place Holders (2024) and La Plupart des Objets Restent Invisibles (2021) highlight his exploration of object agency and non-anthropocentric art strategies.
