Cody R. Taylor

Dr. Cody Taylor serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Government and Justice Studies within Appalachian State University's College of Arts and Sciences, joining the institution in August 2025 after completing his doctorate at North Carolina State University.

His academic credentials include:

• Ph.D. in Public Administration, North Carolina State University (2025)
• MPA in Public Management, Appalachian State University (2020)
• B.S. in Political Science, Appalachian State University (2016)

Dr. Taylor's research program critically examines State & Local Government operations through the lenses of Community & Economic Development, Organization Theory, and Public Management. His dissertation 'Putting the Oliver Twist on Publicness Theory' pioneers analytical frameworks for predicting organizational management of public outcomes like affordable housing investments, with significant implications for resilient local economy development through public procurement systems.

Professional experience spans economic development analysis at NC Growth, fellowship work with Appalachian Community Capital, Upward Bound advising, and over a decade of service in the United States Navy Reserve. His teaching portfolio includes PS 371 Research Methods, PS 312 Introduction to Public Administration, and PS 201 American Government & Politics.
