Cody Halquist

Cody Halquist is a Lecturer in Horn at the University of Virginia's Department of Music. His career spans performance and education, with roles including 3rd Horn of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and frequent performances with the Richmond Symphony. He has also performed internationally in Germany and South Korea.

Education:

• Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance (studied under Adam Unsworth)
• Master of Music and Master of Musical Arts in Performance from the Yale School of Music (studied under William Purvis)

Halquist's professional interests focus on expanding wind quintet repertoire through arrangements (e.g., Verdi’s Overture to Nabucco) and chamber music collaborations. He has performed at the Kennedy Center and participated in competitions like the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.

Teaching: Instructs horn at Sacred Heart University since 2019 and previously served as a teaching artist for Yale's Music in Schools Initiative and Morse Summer Academy, offering free music education to underprivileged students.
