Coco Fusco

Coco Fusco is Professor in the School of Art at Cooper Union and Director of Off-Campus Programs. An internationally acclaimed interdisciplinary artist and writer, her practice examines cross-cultural politics through performance, video, and critical writing.

Her works have been featured in prestigious venues including the Venice Biennale, Whitney Biennial (2022, 2008, 1993), and Frieze Special Projects. Permanent collections holding her work include MoMA, Centre Pompidou, Walker Art Center, and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona. She is represented by Mendes Wood DM gallery.

Professor Fusco is the author of influential publications including 'Dangerous Moves: Performance and Politics in Cuba' and 'English is Broken Here: Notes on Cultural Fusion in the Americas'. Her 2023 retrospective 'Tomorrow I Will Become an Island' was accompanied by a Thames & Hudson monograph.
