Professor Cobie Rudd is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Regional Futures) and Vice-President at Edith Cowan University (ECU), leading regional engagement initiatives across Western Australia. She oversees ECU South West, including the Bunbury campus, and drives gender equity through ECU's Athena Swan accreditation. Previously, she held roles as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Advancement), inaugural Chair in Mental Health, and Australia's first National Teaching Fellow in simulation-based health education (2011). Her leadership spans over 14 governance boards, including the South Regional Health Research Collaborative and 360 Health + Community.
Education: Holds a BHSc(N) from the University of New England, MPH from Queensland University of Technology, and a PhD from the University of Western Australia. A Registered Nurse and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Research focuses on mental health, simulation-based learning, interprofessional education, and chronic disease management (e.g., COPD). She pioneered culturally responsive health education using Indigenous narratives and demonstrated simulation's role in reducing clinical skill gaps. Her work on anxiety/depression in COPD patients has advanced treatment strategies. Key achievements include ECU's Athena Swan Bronze Award (2018) and the first Cygnet Award (2022).
Her articles emphasize simulation efficacy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and mental health innovations. Awards include WA Women’s Hall of Fame (2023) and policy contributions to regional health equity.
