Clive Dimmock is a Professor of Educational Leadership & Policy at the University of Glasgow, appointed in 2013. He holds additional titles as Professor Emeritus at the University of Leicester and Honorary Professor at the Education University, Hong Kong. His career includes roles at Cardiff University, the University of Western Australia, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He earned his undergraduate degree from the London School of Economics and a doctorate in Comparative Education and Policy from the Institute of Education, London University (now UCL).
His research focuses on educational leadership, policy analysis, cross-cultural education systems, equity in education, and bridging the research-policy-practice gap. Notable interests include redesigning schools for improved learning outcomes, addressing systemic reforms in Vietnam and Singapore, and promoting research-informed teaching practices.
Dimmock has led major grants, including a Singapore government-funded study on school leadership (2009–2012) and projects analyzing Vietnam’s educational reforms (2016–2019). He has supervised over 50 doctoral students, emphasizing themes like school redesign, equity, and cross-cultural comparative studies. He is an editorial board member for journals such as School Leadership and Management and an active consultant for international agencies like the OECD.
Teaching includes the Education Policy in Action module at the University of Glasgow, focusing on Vietnam’s reforms through problem-based learning. His professional memberships span the British Educational Leadership Management and Administration Society (BELMAS) and the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI).
Dimmock’s work bridges academia and practice, advocating for schools as research-engaged communities and contributing to global educational discourse through cross-cultural comparative studies.
