Clinton Mathias is an Associate Professor of Nutritional Immunogenetics at the Department of Nutritional Sciences, University of Connecticut. He previously served as a Professor and Associate Professor of Pharmacology at Western New England University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (2010–2022) and currently holds an Adjunct Associate Professor role at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

His work investigates how diet, epigenetic modifications, and cytokines like IL-10 and IL-33 modulate mast cell function at single-cell, genomic, and epigenetic levels. Current projects aim to identify therapeutic strategies for food allergies and respiratory disorders by targeting IL-10 as a mast cell growth factor and analyzing diet-induced epigenetic changes.
His publications highlight mast cell-plasticity, dietary antigen effects, IL-10’s dual role in IgE-mediated activation, and epigenetic regulators of food allergic responses. Awards include the AAI Distinguished Service Award, multiple Excellence in Scholarship Awards, and Professor of the Year honors.
