Clinton Beckford

Dr. Clinton Beckford is a Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor, where he holds roles as Vice-President, People, Equity, and Inclusion, and Coordinator of the Global Community Engagement Program (GCEP). He leads international service-learning initiatives in Jamaica and Tanzania. His research focuses on education and geography, particularly environmental sustainability, teacher education, and food security in non-Western contexts. He has published widely on topics like service-learning, Caribbean agriculture, and climate resilience.

Education: Ph.D. from the University of the West Indies (UWI), MPhil and B.A. from UWI, and a Teachers' Certificate from Church Teachers' College.

Research Interests: Education (Geography Education, Environmental Sustainability, Teacher Education, Vulnerability Studies) and Geography (Sustainable Agriculture, Food Security, Indigenous Epistemologies, Participatory Research Methodologies). He emphasizes collaborative methodologies and non-Western perspectives in his work.

Recent graduate supervision includes M.Ed. theses on topics like outdoor classrooms, first-generation university students, and refugee education. He has edited journals and conference proceedings, including volumes on special education and Caribbean development challenges.

Key contributions include advancing community service-learning in teacher education and advocating for local knowledge systems in addressing climate change and food security. His work bridges academic research with practical applications in marginalized communities.
