About
Summary of Clint Sharrad
Clint Sharrad is a Lecturer in Nuclear Decommissioning Engineering and Deputy Director of the Dalton Nuclear Institute at The University of Manchester. His career spans roles as an EPSRC Research Fellow (2010–2011) and NDA Research Fellow (2006–2010), with prior postdoctoral research at the University of Manchester focusing on actinide chemistry and molten salt systems. Sharrad holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry (2003) and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry (1998), both from The University of Queensland, Australia.
Research Interests
His research centers on molecular-level understanding of radionuclide behavior in nuclear fuel cycle processes. Key themes include actinide speciation, redox chemistry, and advanced separations using spectroscopic methods (e.g., X-ray absorption, NMR). Collaborations include the Institute of Transuranium Elements (Germany), Idaho National Lab (USA), and synchrotron facilities (ESRF, ANKA). Current projects address ligand design for actinyl redox properties, pyrochemical waste treatment, and Gen IV fuel cycle methods.
