Clement Llena is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education at the University of Lille, affiliated with the Multidisciplinary Research Unit Sport, Health, Society (UREPSSS). As a graduate of Sports and Physical Education (STAPS) programs in France and Quebec, he previously worked as a PE teacher before transitioning to academia. Llena serves as program director for the Education & Motor Sciences degree and coordinates development in Parental and Social Work Programs (APSA).
His research examines strategies to promote engagement in physical activities for health and well-being, focusing on teachers' values, students' academic well-being, sustainable physical activity engagement, and badminton pedagogy. Using socio-ecological models, his work investigates how value congruence between teachers and students impacts well-being and engagement outcomes.
Recent work explores physical activity preferences among European youth, digital tools in sports education, and pedagogical approaches to increase student mobilization in physical education. His publications demonstrate particular interest in institutional values, teaching formats, and their impact on student engagement and well-being.
